Anastasia Antonakaki is a Writer/Director and Theatre maker. She develops the Synthesis method through rehearsals and workshops with actors and dancers. Her work is grounded in empty space and the actor interpreter as the true centre. Operating from theatre, she also makes films. She has written, directed and movement-directed her works, presented in Greece and abroad: RO. on the edge of Time (2026, Ancient Theatre of Oiniades, All of Greece one Culture), Das Kapital (2025, Athens, International Theatre Festival Analogio), Fevolution (2024, Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Reference Market), Endless Field. Discussing with Time (2023, Selection at Film at Lincoln Center), How You Like That (2022). She holds a PhD from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in Movement, Image & ReEnchantment. She is a Law graduate of the same University and holds Master’s degrees in Sociology and Dance. She holds a Performing Arts diploma from ProDancers Studio. She has been extensively trained in different genres of dance and she is practice-based trained in theatre writing and directing, and also film. She is an Adjunct Faculty Member at Theatre Studies Department, University of the Peloponnese. She collaborates with Thymele, the multimedia Dictionary for Performing Arts (University of the Peloponnese, Academy of Athens). She teaches her method along with aspects of dramaturgy across various drama schools. She has taught writing, dramaturgy, directing, acting and movement at institutions including University of Athens, Michael Cacoyannis Foundation, University of Nicosia, Danceversity Hustopece. Last but not least, she constantly interacts with ancient greek drama ("Aeschylus’ Prometheus Bound & the doubt of political power", Assini Editions). (2026) |
